i'm thinking you should post a how to guide in the maintenance section, kev..... brew your own  ;D

I've been considering it for a while now but have no idea where to start

Here's my first batch documented, and that site has all the guides you'll ever need. :y

There's a few of mine on there too :y

I was worried about using the hose pipe due to a ban. ;D

Or if you like wine, try a wine kit  :y works out about £1 a bottle even for a reasonable 'no sugar needed' kit  :y

Ive made several kits now, and pleased everytime with the results  :y

It's a lot easier than it sounds once you do a few dry runs in your head, make a procedure and stick to it.  You need some kit to measure things but you can just wing it.  It's like photography, how far do you want to go?  You can make a half decent brew with a kit and some aroma hops and the layout in money terms for the kit and the equipment is less than the beer would have cost to buy in the shops.

If you do start I would recommend collecting bottles now or if you in the area you can have some of mine. I'm doing a brew in a few weeks if you want to come and watch :y

As I am in training for an Ironman in September, I am not drinking very much at all.  I still have most of the brew made after my tour to Afghan last year and I have had to cancel my subscription to a wine club due to the overflowing winerack.

I get more pleasure from making a decent brew than I do from drinking it.......just  ;D
