Electricity

Make the most of it while we have still got some.

Only 48 hours gas supply left at the moment. Another week of this cold weather could see us running out. :o :o :o :o

Our eco-green politicians are insane.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Even more insanity.

What I didn't know is that there are two subsidy rates for windmills £95 per megawatt and £175 per megawatt. Now the former applies to wind turbines up to 500kw and the latter to those below.

So what are they doing to the giant monstrosities that blot our landscape?

De-rating them of course, so they are below 500kw and they then claim the higher subsidy.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

After reading this I don't think I'd better check my blood pressure for a bit.  :(

That is fine if it is back online where they had major problems last week with the UK pumping station, so it was shut down. There is also the minor problem in cold weather we use more gas than this pipeline and the other major one from from Norway can supply, hence the winter storage gas reserve.  :o :o :o :o

Apparently several LPG tankers are on there way and will dock at some point next week.

With Coal fired power stations shutting, we are more reliant on gas for electricity than we have ever been.  :(

Spookily, I was just reading about the power situation when we had a power cut. :o :o >:(

Fortunately, it only lasted a minute or so, but it took me sometime to reset the router.

The first power cut for a very long time (excluding a couple caused by workmen drilling through cables).

A taste of things to come?  >:(

I dont think turning of the power to your house for few mins, is going to save much power  ;D

Sounds like a local sub station tripped out and automatically reset itself  :y

Had a power cut here at work last Tues from 8.30pm to 0415 a.m.
That though was due to a retard running out of talent half way through a corner at the top of the hill nearby, and hitting a telegraph pole hard enough to bring it down and all the power cables with it. ::)
