Hi gays, I mean guys...

Well had to replace the disspac today as part of the narrowing down of the fuel consumption issue (been a while I know but been sooo busy).

Anyway, I removed it and decided to relocate it. I don't care what anyone says... this is difficult to remove. I'm cut to shreds and lost my swivel socket twice. I did intend to put it back but though f..k that i'll simply relocate. a bit of thought went in to the location and the routing of the leads an I think ive got it to a point where none of them are touching anything hot and are protected where needed with wire protector sleeve thingys.....



And the bonnet shuts well too so winner all round I reckon 

Anyhow on relocation of the diss pac I decided to pop out the HT leads and since my compression test which was only a few weeks ago there is a little bit of oil on pass side 2 and 4 ht lead. now its only a little bit and there was no oil in the wells (like when mine went before and filled every well with oil  ) but is this an indication the pass side's on its way out and should be replaced?

oh the other thing I had to do to make space was remove the filler neck and have the cap directly on the cc cover. the ''coil pack'' lol now sits nicely where this used to be

Have you fabricated some mounting bracket for it ? as imagine it does have the tendancy to move around abit otherwise

no mate. i'm going to drive it about a bit, see if theres any movement but for now its cable tied in place

I'd advise putting it back where it came from, as its then out of the way, and secure.

Over the life time (generally) you only need to change it once, afters it's been swapped its very unlikely in the ownership of the car you will be back there.

Its tucked out of the way, secure & won't move it's original position.

Where you have it, it's going to move around a lot, get in the way during oil changed and subject to much more road muck and grime.

I relocated mine too.
It now sits just below the airbox.



The HT leads can be routed below the top plenum to keep it tidy too.

cheers boys. Ill see how it goes. So far no noise. And i can easily get to the cam cover for oil change :-) does anyone know if i need to do the pass. Side cam cover gasket? As mentioned its just a tiny bit of oil on the leads.

nice one Murph. I remember that pic you posted showing it below the air box. I'd like to do that and fabricate a securing plate or something. But how did you extend the connector going to the coil pack? :-)

I used four lengths of wire of different colours with small spade connectors, male one end and female the other end.
Bound up with electrical tape then routed out of the way so it doesn't cause any problems then plugged in, being careful to connect the right wire to the right pin.
A computer hard drive power plug (molex type) can be used at the dispack end.

Put it back and seal the scuttle , it wont break again even if it was a pattern part  They dont like to take a shower very often

My MV6 is on its original DIS at 199k. And thats LPG, thus needs good HT
