« on: 05 April 2013, 00:00:52 »

hi read a few threads now about changing the cams in the x25xe for more powers

i seen that these are the 3 most comon combos
 4x g cams
 2x g cams 2x a cams
 2x g cams 2x e cams

also would u be able to grain more powers by getting the g cam re-profiled ?

just really want to know what to go for as i only wanna do it once  :)

Fit G cams on the inlet, and A cams on the exhaust, like the 3.0.
No other combination will give more power.

If you're looking for more power than this... get something that's not an Omega... it's not a sports car, just a usable saloon :y

I fitted the 3.0 cams to my old 2.5,it helps but if I had to do it again I think I would fit the 3.0 engine and get the full fat experience :y

I would just buy something that's actually quick!

My 3.2 was impressive for the weight of car... but a semi modern BMW TDi will still see it off!

Some of the Police mods on the 3.0 were 4 x G cams, Re Chip, Gas flow Penlium and inlets and Enlarged and flowed Throttle Bodies, dont quote me why, but reckon it was done for a reason.   ;)

Edit: Also see here (Cem) may be of interest to you combined with the above info.  ;)

yep.. all will increase power..  :y

but before anything I will recommend a planning on power gain.. how much is enough..

dropping a 3.0 in will give straight 40 hp (will be relaitvely cheaper).. if you want few more you need to polish all inlet/outlet ports including plenum..  but if thats not enough you need forced induction which wont be cheap and you will have to play with internals including bottom end.. + gearbox..

I put 3.0ltr cams into my 2.5 some years ago and have been well pleased with the extra bit of power it delivers . ::)

Only downside is the petrol pump gets seen more often depending on how hard you press the "loud pedal" :o

Increased power often gets better mpg as engine is working less, a 2.5 V6 manual Omega is prob a tad more economical than 2.2 16v manual..

A 6.0 Monaro is about the same believe it or not as a 3.2 Omega in fuel use (if driven normally)

also some other mods are

playing with the size of inlet valves , also you can play with the size of exhaust valves but that will sacrifice low end TQ unless you use variable valve timing (obviously omega dont have)

playing with bore size (on 2.5 as much as 4-5 mm) , on 3.0 there is not much meat left to bore.. may be 1 mm (2woody expected)

if you wont go for forc.induction you can increase stroke size ..
