Change oil today?
« on: 06 April 2013, 11:23:46 »

Planned to change TBE's oil today. The car has suffered a lifetime of FSH by dealers, so turns the oil black quickly. Its probably overdue anyway, although can't remember how long ago I did it ;D

But I've woken up full of snot, and no energy.

Should a do it?

As oil needs to be warm before draining old out, take it for a steady drive with the heater on . ;D

Quick raise on jack when  you get back and then return in doors to let old drain ;D.When warmed again and replaced energy from effort of removing drain plug quick dash back out to remove filter and replace with new. :y

Again retire indoors to recovery and build up strength to refit drain plug and lower off jack. ;)

Finally when you have mustered up enough strength pour new oil into filler and only if strength allows today to remove dipstick and check. :-\

With carefull planning I recon you will be outside for no more than 20 minutes .....so get on with it  8)

Its part done. Awaiting parts from Brackley's 2nd Omega parts warehouse, as Brackley's premier Omega parts warehouse is lacking bits.

Should add, that house I fancy in my road is up for sale again, this is the first Saturday its been for sale, so seen a couple of people look. Just seen some ol' duffer in a blazer look around it, then walk down the road, and raise an eyebrow at the site of a clapped out old Vauxhall jacked up on stands, abandonned ::)

Its too pricey IHMO. Although I'd gain a double garage and double width drive (and a useless downstairs small study), is that worth an extra £100k over what I have. Not IMHO.
