can i ignore 0430 & 0420 codes?
« on: 17 April 2013, 19:17:22 »

These have have just come on, a month apart. Light disappears when car is started. Would leaving it have an effect on fuel consumption?

Mine has been on and off since I bought it with no noticeable difference in fuel consumption  :)

Try a tank of high quality fuel not supermarket rubbish, and "give it some beans" ... "might" clear the pre-cats out .. might not... other than that .. reset them and wait until next time .. or move the sensors to behind the main cats ..

As I was told when I got the 3.2 .. its not "if" you get these codes .. its "when" .....

I don't use supermarket fuel. Only use Shell, although its the regular 95 stuff. Give it some 'beans' you say? I hope you are not suggesting I do something illegal.  ;D.  I haven't got a code reader and don't really want to buy one so will leave it if no effect on fuel.  Yes, the light is overdue

Since using sainsbury 'super' light went out and never came back on. If I use BP the light will come on after about 20 miles, switch back to sainsbury and it goes off again..might work for you too..

I have a tank full of Shell at the moment but might just try that next time.  :y   EDIT, Entwood suggested this, sorry mate - must learn to read and comprehend  ::)

TheBoy, I understand that is the only solution but who is there that can offer this service? I dont have the tools or the skills to do it  :(

Can the lambda sensors be moved with the exhausts in situ, or do they have to be dropped?  :-\

If Mark says he thinks he can do summat, what he actually means is that he has never tried that approiach, but could do it in his sleep with his left hand tied to his right ankle ;D

I'd say one hour for both sides including a cuppa :y

I'd be interested to see if they can be done in situ as I've got two cars to do,have got access to ramp etc which may help but I've only studied the how to guide and obviously that shows the job being done with the system off the car, fingers crossed :y
