2.2 Petrol timing belt questions
« on: 20 April 2013, 08:14:11 »

Now it's not quite so cold and wet I really must tackle this. I can't see a specific guide so a few questions.

Do I need a locking tool, or is that just V6?

What should I buy - I can get a Gates kit here for £78

http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/vauxhall.php?partnumber=93174268&partid=803&ecode=&vid=21

Is this accepted as good, or should I be sticking genuine VX?

I see QH pumps refered to as ok, but I can't seem to find any. Are any of these reliable - FAI? Febbi Bilsteib? Comline? Or should I stick to VX?

Anything I should be aware of / watch out for?

Many thanks in advance.

Steve

Update: can get QH on eBay it seems http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QH-WATER-PUMP-RC487239P-TO-FIT-OPEL-OMEGA-2-2-99-OE-QUALITY-/110924135851?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AOmega&hash=item19d397fdab

Locking tool is needed. Its a very basic tool and not a set of tools like the v6. Should be inexpensive.
Gates kits are excellent quality. If you buy from a VX dealer you may well be supplied with  gates kit. Contitech are also very good quality.
Dont know answers to other points, but Im sure others will soon be along who do. :y

That is NOT a QH pump. Genuine QH has part number QCP3059. Hard to get a genuine QH ;)

Thank you all - really useful input.

Is there a 2.2 DVD also?

(Being cautious  as last time I changed a Cambelt was on a 1982 1.6 Cortina!)

2.2 DVD available in the OOF shop for £3.00. I seem to remember that the quality isnt that great, but probably still useful for a first timer.
