He went of his way today, to meet me at Haddenham & Thame Parkway station, then take me to collect a car, then tow me in the new project with his tractor over 30 miles back home!

Was quite suprised how fast we managed to get back, from arriving at the seller to being back at home was less than 1 hour 30 mins.

That included poking around the car for a while, doing the deal, towing back the car 30 miles, including a 10 min stop to have another gander at it.

He's a good man. He helped me out by changing over my CID in my dash and fixed another couple of things that weren't scheduled just because they needed doing whilst I was there.

Tractor pulled well, shame I fubared Jimbob's old droplink on the way to pick you up during some spirited driving, though I think that is conincidence that it started clonking after that, as I doubt driving style had anything to do with its final demise...

Despite the viscous fan sitting in the garage, and the reasonable ambient temps (18C when we started), the tractor's temp never went above 96C, proving that the viscous simply ain't needed!

thought you said the gauge reading was in reality low? i.e 96 is over the ton at the engine??

midpoint on gauge covers a hefty range.  Mine always runs in the 94 - 96 on the gauge (reality, low to high nineties) normally, with electric fans kicking in at 96C.

My point, even when towing its max tow weight (1.8t), it still never went above that, proving viscous is pointless (admittedly, mine has A1 cooling system now ).

So, removing viscous makes is quieter, loses less power, undoubtedly better economy, easier to maintain, and best of all (as it tends to climb up to 96C in traffic after a blast, and bring on electric fans) intercooler fan comes on more often
