as above..  can you convert a normal differential to LSD by swapping some internal parts ?

I am not sure what would be involved in this giving you are locking the wheels to rotate at the same speed (LSD)

When needed a non LSD will turn the inner wheel slower or free wheel it as it doesn't have to travel the same difference as the outer

What ever is involved I take its similar to the old blob of weld allowing equal distribution of power to both wheels, however having seen many cars with this and how rough the ride is it low speeds I wouldn't advise it  :y

basically, the crownwheel carrier is different for LSD.

it is possible to swap parts over, but even the bearings and seals needed once you have the LSD parts cost more than a decent Omega

the cost is not a problem.. basically when I try to buy a big boxed second hand part the customs become the problem (tried that)..  for that reason I'm asking for parts.. :'( +

and if I try to buy an unused differential (let alone an LSD) its costs (here) a fleet of omegas with UK price :(

Cem might sound silly but could you not buy one here and get somebody on oof to break it down and send it to you in bits. Then all you have to do is but it back together :y

I have seen some omegas with bmw rear diff, for examble a bmw 325i E46 has lsd. to mount this you will need to have a special made propellerchaft (the one that connects the gearbox to the rear diff) and some special made drive schafts. in denmark this conversion can be made for around 2000kr + the price of a bmw rear diff..

its worth a thought. otherwise you need to find a old omega policecar with manual gearbox

the BMW way could be the most cost-effective.

For Omega parts :-

£250 to buy a second-hand LSD of unknown quality here in the UK
£50 to get someone to strip it for you
£50 postage

and to rebuild at the other end

£180 for output bearings
£100 for a new set of diff plates
£150 to get it built up and clearances set, etc.

£780 as an estimate

agreed 2woody..  :y   and it will be time consuming headache for friend members and pasing the parts from customs one by one is another problem :-\  so I will prefer to buy from here directly.. in case of problem I can give it back to breakers :) :y
