Quick ECU swop question 3.0
« on: 29 April 2013, 18:20:18 »

Having just spent the laxt 3 hours trying to start a 3.0 and couldn't work out why theres no fuel getting into the pots and no fault codes, turns out some f*€&er has taken the ECU out. So question if I nick a ECU and Key Transponder pack from another 3.0 Auto will it work in this 3.0 Manual, both FL. Thanks Chris

You'll need the immobiliser module from around the ignition lock barrel too.

Thanks Cem, I thought the Mapping was the same between Auto's and Manuals?, I have swooped just the Eprom Chips between Auto and Manual and vice versa without any issues?

'immobiliser module' yes I call them, probably wrongly, 'Key Transponder pack' as above but thanks Kevin.

Talking of which, how do they pull off, cant seem to see any bolts of screws holding it on, is there a clip or something Im not seeing?

The map characteristics are set via a pin on the ECU which is grounded on a manual loom or connected to the autobox ecu on the auto.

Hence the loom is the main item that determines the operation.
