Opel??
« on: 29 April 2013, 21:12:40 »

I am not sure if this is the right place to put this, appologies if not, BUT
was just wondering,
my father, in the 1970's bought a brand new Opel Commodore GS 2.5 automatic (complete with a great 8 track player lol), was it a forerunner of my Omega CDX?. just wanted your views on it ( if you are old enough to remember it that is). i learnt to drive in it, I was 19 at the time, and failed at my first attempt, wish I had more proper lessons ha ha ha.

Autobahnstormers would probably be the place to ask about this car, as they have a greater interest in the more vintage large Vauxhalls. http://www.autobahnstormers.org.uk/

They do have a forum but it's members only. On the upside, membership gives you a trade club card meaning much reduced prices at Vauxhall parts counters. :y

Forgot to say...the eight track player could of been a...radiomobile  102s....it was grey with a chrome surround on the front and to the left hand top corner was a coloured 4 square button which you pushed to change tracks...it was one of the first decent surround sound systems and i am an old git so i remember selling them and fitted them..they even did a home unit 240 volt in a walnut surround and an extention speaker  that you could take from the main unit and put it away from the unit.......then when cassettes became popular the did an adapter to insert into the 8 track unit so you could play the smaller cassettes...oh yes...memories... :y :y

As far as I recall[but could be wrong]the Commodore gave way to the Opel Senator,or Vauxhall Royale and Viceroy-the two Vauxhall models only lasted about three years-which in turn gave way to the Omega B.If that's of any help.
