Interesting Police Pull
« on: 01 May 2013, 15:56:30 »

To set the scene, its a wonderful sunny day & i'm driving to Brackley up the M40 to do futher work on MotherT's Estate. I'm in the 3.2 as my 2.2 needs a new exhaust flexi, so cruising along at a nice 85/90  :-X

Lots of traffic building up ahead, spot a plod car ahead. After a while I slowly catch up, now plod was in a panda car. A Ford Focus Estate, slightly odd for motorway role I thought, maybe on route to something?

He was doing 80mph, with no blues or twos on. I very, very , slowly pass him, also hovering around 80. Don't look to my side just continue in lane 3, plod moves to lane 1, which I see in my mirror. I move to lane 2 almost straight way.

Now. Mr 3 Series BMW man behind me, is either blind or stupid or just as knob. As he just boots it, easily 90+ down lane 3.

Plod then jumps from lane 1 to 3, then in my opinion tailgated him (without blues on). 3 Series man moves from lane 3 to lane 2, without indicating. What a knob!

Blues come on, and he is pulled over  ;D ;D ;D

Not a text book pull though, I thought plod would hang back watch for a while and at a safe distance light him up  :-\

if plod is doing 80 mph on the motorway ..only a BMW driver would go even faster...

The BM driver probably just got a warning and telling off....coz if it wasnt a motorway patrol car......then i doubt the focus either had a calibrated speedo or calibrated speed detection  :-\

Dont suppose you saw if the BM driver was wearing a seatbelt?? I once went passed a patrol car on the M4 (didnt see him until too late, he was tucked inbetween two HGV's) doing 90  :-X

I got pulled and given a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt and told not to take the pee in future and slow down until im well passed any patrol car  ::) ;D

The BMW driver should have referred to his owner manual where it would specifically advise to only tail gate in lane 1 and 2 until the car in front is intimadated enough to move out of the way  ;D ;D

You forgot the Flash the lights and signal part. My owners manual specifically states: 'Race right up to the arse end of the car in front, flash the high beam by pulling a stalk which is normally unused on the left hand side of the steering wheel, and wave furiously at the idiot in front of you until they are forced to move. As you go by, give them a gesture to let me know your displeasure and continue your journey safely.'  ::) ::).

I don't think the flashy lights came in until the E49 though  ;D ;D ;D

Mr T didn't state which variant so I assumed it was a E46  ;) :D

I was once tearing up the M1 around a ton in the third lane  and only noticed a patrol car in the second lane traffic at the last minute. I slowed down and as I got level with him I got the wagging finger and a dissaproving look with a smile. What car was I in ??????? 325i  ::) ::)

Whats all this stuff about BMW owners manuals then? Round my way it seems that all the old "Im a knob, I drive a BMW so Im better than you and will drive how I want" drivers have moved onto Audi...

Oi, behave yourself.  ;) ;D ;D

I'll have you know I'm a law abiding bmw driver, trying to restore faith in other motorists by being overly polite when I'm in the bimmer.  :) I fear I have a massive task on my hands to re-educate you lot.  ;)

90mph +  :o :o I can only imagine that his adaptive cruise was trying to locate the car in front.  ;)

.........or his snooper let him down.  ;)
