I'm out of UK for 10 years now so forgive my ignorance but is it because that particular model is priced on Co levels ?
It's quite shocking though as it would seem to be creeping up towards the Irish levels. 
I taxed mine today for six months and it cost €394 ( circa £350 ) . It's difficult to convey to you all how angry it makes you feel to pay that money .
