(another) Tyre Thread
« on: 02 May 2013, 12:15:35 »

One specific question - does the Omega Estate have to have 'XL" tyres?

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on:

Hankook Ventus Prime 2 K115 225/55 R16 99W XL (£105 each fitted) and what is currently on the front of the car.

or

Avon ZV5  225/55 R16 95W (£97.50 each fitted)

Many thanks

Steve

Assuming these tyre threads aren't banned ::)

If you have an estate, or regularly carry heavy loads, then it's a no brainer :y Regardless of opinion, XL tyres probably better suited to the current state of our roads as the side walls are stronger :y

If you're looking for suggestions, then try Runway Enduro 916+, 225/55/16 97W XL :y

About £65 fitted, and alot better than either price or generic tyre tests might suggest :y

If you're not, then I'll get back in my box ;D

XL tyres have higher load rating..  first check the tyre load rating and compare to your weight.. if you frequently overload tyres it may be useful..

however, they have tendency to increase tramlining problem on some brands..

should ban all this stuff about tyres-all leads to arguments anyway so pointless-as covered before many times-if people can be bothered to look-I'm off before it kicks off-bye :y

Feel free to lock / delete, if I have started something I shouldn't have - I did try some background reading by wanted to clarify the XL part which I have now done.

Thanks

Try www.blackcircles.com  :y

Enter the size in the boxes on the left, click 'Show me tyres', then 'Show more tyres'

Scroll down and you'll see them on the left hand of the second row, £68.64 each, fully fitted :y

Several people here either have them fitted or have had positive experience with them on the Omega, so tried and tested in the real world on actual cars :y
