Car Hire
« on: 02 May 2013, 20:07:51 »

I am looking to get a new car for work in the next few months as my Zafira is starting to look a bit sorry for itself

In the mean time until I have enough pennies I need something and was thinking of hiring for 6 months,

Does anyone no of any car hire companies that offer this, or used any in the past, I tried some leasing firms but its 12 months minimum ?

I only cover from Reading to Slough so mileage is minimal  ;)

+1 less hassle long term too. Hired a van for a few days few years ago won't be doing that again anytime soon  ;)

You might be able get the arse end of someone elses lease, sometimes people want to end the deal early and pay a penalty for it then the lease company will lease it again for cheap. Worth a call round some companies!

You can indeed get 'short term' packages for 6 months, but you will pay a fairly high rate.

I would suggest that it may be more cost effective to buy another vehicle. Once the 6th month term period is over, with a rental you'll have nothing, whereas with a vehicle you'll have some residual value.

For £700, you could buy a 2001 Focus 1.6 that would prove reliable and have residual value when the tome comes to replace it with something better.

If you do wish to hire, feel free to PM me and I can help propose you with a company I use that work well, but they do only hire larger vehicle.

There are plenty of cheap cars that will tide you over and at worse you should break even when it comes to selling on  ;)

Maybe a cheap car is the better option, the benefit of having a hire car was that it is one monthly cost with no nasty surprises with repairs, maintenance  :y

Apex look good, but I am not sure how it works with ins if your not the register keeper as I am sure my ins company ask that  ???

apex .............insurance company fine about it , its just like insuring a lease car, you have to have fully comp and let insurance company know its a hire car etc .

there is a deposit to pay cant remember how much now.

I rented vans for 6 months at a time generally you get a spanking new one, if you do high miles they change it every 3 months for another new one  :).

theres no maintainace to pay, service etc all done for you but you never have the car /van long enough to need a service they deliver it free to simples. i tried local companies etc with older vehicle but no one could match thier prices :y

They only do fords by the looks of it and this would be their most luxurious car the Mondeo diesel.. Doesn't look like the price includes insurance either, At these prices makes running an Omega dirt cheap  :o

yes the bigger cars are expensive, vans are cheap well as much as a lease would be if you could get a 6 month lease. They used to be cheaper when their fleet was all vauxhall and saab :o

thought of another place if you know you want the car for only 6 months, but cant find the email address, sorry no time to search at the momment but basically its a site where people are leasing a car and want to end the lease early say 6 months remaining, you just take over payments, worth doing a few searches to see what comes up :y
