If it was me, I would MOT it locally, even if I 'thought' it would fail...

Reason being, you get pulled, which is taking the piss less?

Id rather say, I hoped it would pass, but at least I know whats wrong with it, and here is the list, you can see there is nothing dangerous, else they would have kept the car, or I would have arranged a transporter.

To me, that shows a degree more sensibility, and less of being a chancer.
True,
I'm just being fussy on what i presume might fail tbh especially if not taking to your usual MOT garage, As on my 2.2 had seeping shocks just got advisories, same with discs a few years ago, Still passed but as you say not worth the risk at a local MOT garage to where the car is..

Car drives and handles as it should not dangerous from what i could tell from inspection and from a test drive..

Just been reading about this...according to the road traffic act 1988 you can drive an untaxed vehicle provided it is insured to a pre arranged booked m.o.t. provided you take the most direct route with no detours....on a web site i was looking at they say that the problem may arise driving it back home if it has failed..or there is a very grey area about the distance you travel to get there...i.e..the police may take a dim view of a long journey where you may pass lots of other m.o.t.stations on your way...if i may say in jest.....rather you than me matey.... :y :y :-\ :-\ :-\

Aye I know it ain't ideal but the car is what I want and cheap so it's not worth the hassle of arranging anything fancy, Anyways the train ticket has been bought wouldn't want to waste a 30 quid ticket (Pre booked that's why it's cheap) ;D

have  moved around the country a lot, and as my mum works for a mot station (free b) ;) have done this a few times last time I was pulled driving 320miles for the mot the traffic cops don't like it but its a very grey area, have been nicked once didn't take the car just got a ticket ,went to court and it got thrown out .still doing it haven't been stoped or nicked for a wile and I normaly drive A roads with plenty of anpr cameras .But make sure you do book the car in and that they have your reg as you may need to prove it.One point try and not stop petrol fags etc as at this point if you get a cleaver copper (pretty hard to find one of these)at this point you have commeated a crime as the car is now being used not just driven to the mot.
As always sorry about the spelling.and good luck

200 miles is pushing your luck, MOT is suppose to be local to you and a direct route, also been told the DVLA guidlines for driving to and from MOT with sorn or no Tax is 1 Hour before booked test and 1 Hour from picking up from test.

Also worth pointing out that your Insurance will be invalid if driving a car with no MOT other than getting it tested.

I got stopped years ago in my capri  ::) police went by me facing the other way and doubled back to follow me 6 miles . When stopped i politely asked them to go and catch criminals which didnt go down too well  ;D then his mate kind of lightened the mood saying he loved capris and what a great job id done restoring it , i just had to produce a valid mot within 14 days ... dont know if they are as lenient today though  :-\

Are you in the AA/RAC etc ?  ???  Crank sensors are notorious for failing out of the blue on the Omega!  ;)

If you're buying it, then just add it to your existing insurance. Costs about £30 for a week. When you go to pick the car up, pre book the fitting of the shocks and the MoT, taking the shocks with you. Be ready to tax it once passed.

Discs usually only fail if they are cracked or seriously mullered :y
