2.5TD (1998) auto box troubles
« on: 05 May 2013, 22:55:37 »

The car occasionally struggled to move off today. Engine reving but car moving off very slowly. Not a permanent fault and seems okay now. Is this the "creep home" mode I've heard about (but never experienced so far)?

The car has had a tendancy to slip out of gear for some months. again it's an intermittent fault, cleared by moving selector lever while driving.

Read somewhere about "common problems" with this auto box. On the "hoping it's a simple problem" principle I've disconnected the battery to clear any computer related faults (will reconnect tomorrow after applying refresher battery charge overnight).

Another common problem appears to be a dirty or intermittent gear selector lever, fixed by cleaning the switch.

How do I clean the switch?

Cheers, mc9
