I should go and work in Dover!!

My Dad......due to unforeseen circumstances.......got a cab from Dover this afternoon to pretty close to Swindon.....its a distance of 170miles.....according to my TOMTOM on fastest route.....got charged £260  :o My prices over that sorta distance are roughly £1/mile....

And he didnt get ripped by the driver.......he asked how much when he phoned the taxi company........

Have they charged some sort of return fee, as there was no chance of a return passenger ??

I've had that done to me before .. :(

Charges should be regulated --- are Dover Council generous ? Wasn't a private hire car was it ? (Dunno if that makes a difference)

lot of money to pay for a cab . some want return fares, they do in london can cost me 50 quid to get 14 miles.

if i remember rightly ken livingstone got a taxi back from blackpool once at a cost of 500 quid.

The unforeseen circumstances.......he was knocked over by automatic sliding doors that closed on him as he was passing thro them......cut his nose...and hurt his left arm.......and hes 83.......so he wasnt gonna be driving himself anywhere...........

Hmmm -- I am not one for spurious compensation cases -- but your dad might have a shot there to get some form of compensation from the occupier of the building where the doors are -- obviously they are malfunctioning

hope your Dads better soon mate, did the mileage take in to account the driver getting lost once or twice ,I've done the same myself when Ive been out of my area .Didn't charge the fare for my mistakes though

Yeah hes fine i think  :y
Went to see him earlier.......to let him in his house....somehow managed to loose front door key......i have a spare one....

Hes said hes going to A&E in the morning to see why his arm hurts........poss just bruised i reckon........

Ive told him to ring my brother and tell him what happened........he's more a 'had an accident....then sue' type of person than me.....plus my brother has a solicitor working for him on the payroll  :y

He asked for a quote from the taxi office......they told him £260......so didnt matter which way driver went...... :y ........tho i did ask dad and i think the driver did go a long winded way round........but as said its upto the driver which way when price given  :y

All automatic doors should comply with British Standards 7036 in order to prevent doors closing and trapping users. I knew my job would come in handy one day :y
