What the ****'s one of them?. I've got an old Matchless G2 in storage, waiting for enough time to get it going again. I understand you have to leave them in a garden shed for at least 5 years to get a suitable patinea for polishing. However Japanese bikes tend to decompose in that time  :'( :'(

I like them! But do you need a 1000cc bike? A 600 tends to be just as much fun, if not more as they're normally a bit more agile! If you want an old yam then the thundercat are good fun! :y :y :y

they were a good bike in their day, depends on budget and what you want from the bike really, someone mentioned a zzr1100,a great bike but a very different bike to a thunderace. personally if my budget was over 3k i would go for an R1 or under 3k i would be looking for an earlyish fireblade. :-/

The Ace is a real torquey bike. Only has five gears and is really for touring  than sporty. THey suffer from weak clutch baskets which don't like a lot of abuse and can break up soaking your nice boot in oil or the real worse case is bits of metal flying in ya leg (it's very rare) front brakes are the same as used on the R1 they have like two blue stars on them. Brillant caliper but must be kept clean or they sieze. Then it just comes down to tired shocks and forks and knackered rubber brake lines. They are getting a bit long in the teeth now so the majority will need some TLC of some sort or another. To be honest if it's a cheaper sports tourer your looking for go find a black bird the build quality is brillant. If you fancy a 600 be warned there pretty darn revvy. So be prepared to be showing more than 10k rpm to get a ruddy shift on. THen there's V twins if you like loads of grunt it's got to be a good bet I loved my Aprillia RVSR. If you want something sporty and you want the best of all worlds then there is only one contender the legendry Suzuki GSXR 750. Don't think it's a wee bike and you need a thou bikes have come on lots and this is the best balance for real world rideing

A wee piccy to wet ya whistle. Ten points to the first person who knows where that was taken. I'll give you a clue look at the back ground.
Best bike I ever owned but it was laid to rest in November 06 along with my bike rideing days. Thanks very much Mr tractor driver.  :'( :'(

Now just to answer a few of your questions ;D

I have had two "Bogger 90's" to go to work and back, great thing but looked like a "Mountain on a Pimple" ;D

As for needing Peddles are you saying I need to lose weight???? ;D
Oh and thanks for the offer of viewing the "Little Sportster" for me Mark  ;)

I rode an R1, lovely lookin and fast but the riding position wasn't for me, plus if you want a passenger.... well that certainly doesn't look a comfy option.....

Always liked the look of the Thunderace and the riding position is nice, a comfortable seat for both the rider and pillion.....

Rode my mates CBR 1000 when they first come out didn't like the look of them really and I didn't like the ride either :(

Thunderace's ROCK!!!! You won't be disappointed with what you can get for your money. I've got a TL1000R - another FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC bike (just ignore what the press say about it, it makes a REALLY good road bike).
