well got the insignia looks quite impressive, like the layout of the dash etc although i have to have my glasses on to read all the gismos. Find the seats quite hard, speacialy compared to the omega and this is the SE model not SRI.

Doggy does not like it suprised at how small the boot is for an estate, gearbox is not really that smooth as it clunks between reverse and drive

if i was really honest the miggy drives better, certainley more comfortable

Your conclusions are similar to ours which is why we ended up with an Auto Elite - seats a bit comfier and no gear change issues. No comparison to Omega but we did not intend that as it replaced a Signum.

At the end of the day it was a compromise - best financial deal with warranty, fuel costs etc and fact it will spend much of its life touring the local parks, pre school, shopping areas and garden centres where risks are high from scratches/idiots. My preference would have been to get her a used Touareg but not practical for reasons stated. At the end of the day it was the right buy for the use it will have.

As a second hand buy i do think they represent good value for money with some of the deals out there.

No idea about mpg yet not really been anywhere thats today and tomorrow, but unfortunatley its a bit of a non starter for us poor old doggy can just about atand up in the boot well he crouches, not a happy doggy at all and wifeys suggestion of a drive out to the grey hound rescue centre today is only going to end up with a partner for doggy by the sounds of things . so no way your going to get two greyhounds in that boot. vectra c and miggy no problem

sadly our dog owning days (30 years of it) are over for now due to travel etc - but if we resumed would be revisiting the Volvo Estate

I've got to say, for my needs, I much prefer the Insignia to the Omega.

As I don't own dogs, I find the load space in my Sports Tourer far perfectly adequate for my needs, I don't have to lift things in and out of the boot.

The auto gear box is equally as smooth as the Omega's.

It tows my caravan far more easily than the Omega, able to maintain 60 mph on Motorways and dual carriageways without effort, dropping only into 5th on most motorway hills, where the Omega used to drop into 2nd.

My new caravan is 1485 kgs where the old one was about 150 kgs lighter and still tows better than the Omega did with the lighter one on the back.

Having said all that, did I enjoy owning an Omega? Yes of course I did, but would I swop back? No way.

well they are coming to take the car back tomorrow will i miss it, of course i will. would i spend 10-12k on one or buy a second hand bmw 7 i would have to say the 7 series.

dont get me wrong enjoyed my time with the insignia once i got used to the ride, bit hard may be the low profile bigger than standard wheels, but it goes really well pulls like a train and some. Love the shape although the boot is small it got some realy nice gizmos with it and feels very solid and well built. once you got the hang of all the adjustments nice driving position and a nice feel, good value for money i think

did not find it as economical as i had hoped but think thats more down to a heavy right foot, it certainly picks up speed well average about 40mpg. Oh and the sat nav grinds on you a bit with constant repeat of directions each time more sterner than the last, feels like your getting told off  .

i would definatley swap the omega for one its a much more posative drive and i do like all the instrementation and lights and buttons certainley better economy oh yes and the brakes blimey they are good nearly put myself through the windscreen a few times

I had one as a courtesy car last year. Pretty harsh fidgety ride on 18 inch alloys, numb steering feel and quite dull was my impression. It was an automatic, but no issues with the gearbox as such, it was fine. Tourer looks pretty though. Having driven a current Mondeo, have to say that it is superior in every way compared to the Insignia. Unless you are a badge snob.

I looked at the insignia a couple of years ago, when driving an Omega, and yes, the first thing I noticed was the lack of comfort in the seats compared to the Mig.........

i found that at first but once you drove it for a while the seats became quite supportive, but the ride is no where near as bouncy as an omega, what else is its like sitting in your favourite old arm chair

I find the Mondeo a better drive (chassis) but the build is not as good and the engines not as good......in fact I would rate the build quality as pretty low in comparison to many cars around these days.

I get to drive all sorts of different cars in my job,but only for a handful of yards at a time usually,so I can't really comment on comfort and the like.However one thing that puzzles me about the Insignia[and a few other makes/models]is why they have felt the need to fit a normal speedo and a digital readout of speed as well?

had vauxhall on the phone today asking how i got on with the isignia explained about boot size and he said the astra was taller ( for doggy and his new wife to be) so they are now going to drop of an astra tourer auto for me to have a go in for 3 days

i was hoping he was going to suggest the new vxr estate guy told me they have one they loan out biggest estate on the market, suites you sir should have used the words small boot and very slow , must remember that one after i have driven the astra

Had a diesel auto Mundeo as a courtesy car. Hateful thing, did less mpg than my Omega. Only good thing about it was that I only had it three days
