I don't know that it's illegal for youngsters to consume alchohol at home anyway. I'm sure that if you're out at a restaurant even a young child is allowed to have a glass of wine for example as long as they're drinking it with the meal.
if my aged memory serves me correctly, at one time, you had to be 14 to have a glass of wine with a meal in a restaurant, accompanied by parents....
no idea if that's changed... but we've certainly done that.....
and yes, parents can decide their child can have a glass of wine or whatever at home..... in our house though, we don't allow it until they're 13, unless it's bubbly on a REALLY special occasion...
but after 13, they're offered wine if we're having it...
we started allowing them the odd lager or some such at 16 a few years ago as well. responsibly, in moderation, and not often....
