Which car dilemma Volvo Vs Miggy
« on: 18 May 2013, 09:33:09 »

I've just got an MV6 for my own use, had cam kit, new front disks, and some other stuff done.

So, what do I do with my old X Reg 2.5 Elite Est ? Near wing mirror dangles, problems with cd/radio. Just spent a fortune on fixing things, but needs a bit more work. Only 90k. I'm not even sure if it's saleable.

The Mrs loves her '97 Volvo 940 Estate. 140k, goes great, very few problems, fairly cheap to get work done, better mpg than the Omega.  But, she quite likes the old Omega also.

Which one to keep ?   :-\ Heart says keep Omega, head says keep Volvo. Neither car is worth much, so it's all down to reliability, running costs etc. I've got insurance on both Miggys for about another two weeks, need to do something in that time. Ohhh dear . . . . .  :-\    :-\    :-\

If you do your own work, due to the amount of info available here, the Omega makes sense.

But as its a car for her, she needs to make the final decision :)

I'm actually quite partial to the 'Antique dealer' Volvo. :y

Before I got my first Omega, I always had 900 and 700 Estates. My last one was a '94 960 Est, brilliant car but a real guzzler.

It's a great pity the car makers focus on style and trends insetad of the sheer load lugging capacity of the Omega & Old Volvo Estates. I mean it's not as though they didn't sell, they did, in big numbers. But there is no really vast estate available new anymore that hasn't been compromised by sloping rear hatch doors and other style features that limit capacity  >:(  .

I liked my '91 Volvo 960 a part from the handling and reliability. As a load carrier even better than the Miggy estate.

Unfortunately, there are no uncompromised load carrying estates anymore, which is why in the future, once I'm settled in the Ukraine, I might try as a project putting a Camaro 3.6 into a miggy. A huge estate with similar fuel consumption to a 3/3.2 but much higher performance.  :y :y :y

Yup. Thats what's happening. Keeping Volvo and reluctantly getting rid of Miggy

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=114951.0

Well, I think so, that's the intention . . .  :'(

It's mostly to do with the Mrs. The Volvo is actually her own car and she feels kind of possessive and protective about it, but despite it's age (P Reg) it's great. Nice and simple, no major probs, not too expensive to run etc etc  :y
