Insufficient light output or distorted beam image is a fail. Down to the tester at the end of the day

Normal glass cleaner doesn't seem to have much effect

Any moderately abrasive cream type polish will work. Some of them, like toothpaste or jewellery cleaners, will be very hard work because they are designed not to remove much material. So you are better off using something intended to do this sort of work. The 3M product mentioned earlier is excellent, but is expensive and limited in its applications. If you already own or use rubbing compound like G3 or G10, then you'll be able to do the job by the time a fresh coffee is drinkable.

My mig is an early model 95 so lenses were quite dull, (got a few advisories at first)
Tried med rubbing compound, much better & no more advisories. :). Need to keep at
it though.

If really bad use 1000 to 2000 wet and dry until "clear" (as oppose to yellow) even dull surface all over.  Then use cutting compound like G3, already mentioned, to polish (may need electric mop/buffer).  Finish with light T-cut, and wax polish :y :y

Whilst they will physically bolt onto the car, they are a slightly different shape to FL headlamps and don't meet the bonnet quite right.  :y
