TB's top tip of the day.

Don't try to simulate a fan failure of a Proliant by ramming a screwdriver in one of the fans  :-[

Nah, the system is more intelligent, and initiates a controlled shutdown.

What surprised me is I thought it should run with one fan failed, but clearly it decided it was likely to go critical.

The test I was trying to simulate failed anyway, so I still need to work on it at some point  :-[

The thought crossed my mind, and I actually tried it, but my fingers were too fat  :-[

I got screwdriver to unscrew the fan grill, then had the brainwave to save time ;D
