I was transiting through Singapore airport a few years ago on my way to New Zealand when I felt the call of nature, which being of the No. 2 variety I made my way to the cubicles which turned out to be squat bogs!  ::)

Being a lot younger and more flexible than I am these days I thought "Hey ho, when in Rome....", so I'm squatting there doing my business , when the door to the next cubicle opens and I hear a very loud posh English voice indignantly say "Oh for f@#ks sake!!" :o

I laughed out loud, nearly lost my balance and pissed in my boxers!!!!!  :-[  ;D

Brilliant ;D way better than the loo with the "shelf" that everything sat on before you flushed ( I mean, c'mon, what were they thinking!) we had in our hotel in Zante  :-\

I read somewhere they are favoured by the Germans. In any case it allows one to inspect ones stools and thus their own personal health. Blood, soft, hard, colour, undigested food etc....

Too much information ..........  ??? ???

honestly they tell you many about your health condition.. :y

here , we have both of them.. in offices and houses.. elderly people uses the "luxury" one.. but I always prefer the older method.. however, in public places I hate the european style as its full of bacteria (the necessary plastic/paper feed apparatus that covers the "chair" is non-existent >:( -only in hotels)

also I discovered that in certain positions older style helps more than the other to.... ;D  you never feel the cold plastic in winter..

besides a hot water spray (both cold & hot) is very healthy in winters which I have in home.. and I never use cold water :) ;D

TBH, and I come from experience from having IBD here, the squat toilets are a much more natural position in which to do one's business.

I have to disagree with you on that. I've never tried them - never will, but fail to see how you'd balance for long enough.  ???

Years back, on the way back from a work's 'outing', one of the lads just had to go. The coach was duly stopped while Geoff discretely went behind a large bush. Geoff was no stranger to a meat pie & was a big bloke and obviously didn't get his balance point quite right! Instead of him cr4pping on the ground, he cr4pped in his pants!  :o  :o  :o  :o

Next time you go on the porcelain put a thick book underneath each foot, I bet you notice a difference ;)

thats the problem you must try..  :) you dont need to balance.. there is also another technique.. if the wall behind you is close enough, you can lean on it and you can rest also while..... ;D the only point s your slippers or shoes must be rubber not to skate while leaning.. ;D
