well what a dick head
« on: 19 June 2013, 17:28:41 »

Had the TRE done on the drivers side today.Just been out to check the work, took the wheel off.It looks like my numpty mechanic has, whacked my 4 month old disc with his hammer. On the top and slightly on the side,of the inner edge.If that makes any sence,so i suppose i will have to replace it. >:( >:( Dean

If the garage has damaged the disc fitting a track rod end its down to them to fix it. ???

He probably used a fork joint splitter. They wreck gaiters, but if you are fitting a new track who cares?

You are quite right mate,he did use a fork joint splitter.Just phoned him he said sorry, the fork slipped and he whacked the disk. What can i do,a new disk is probably what i payed him.And he hasn't offered to buy a new one, what problems will it cause me if i don't change it straight away.Any advise greatly apreciated.Dean

Unless the disc is cracked, or bruised on the area where the pads grip, it may not matter. You have not mentioned any juddering under braking. I have old discs that are quite rusty, but the car still stops all right.

I can't picture the damage, don't suppose you got a snapshot? You may find a quick rub with coarse emery will sort it.  :y

Why use that to replace a TRE ??? ???
The outer one on the hub stub axle?

Undo nut, whack ball joint on the top/endo of the thread. Pings straight off. No?

Inner one needs a splitter tool.

Ime anyway.
