Air con not working
« on: 20 June 2013, 21:23:50 »

Hi,

A/C is not working on my car, even though recent refilled the gas. I spoke to the garage who refilled the gas on the phone he said that there might be a leakage on the air con radiator. is it the case really? Every summer I have to get it refilled and last time I did asked the garage to check whether there is a leakage and they confirmed no leakage.  :-\

Can you guys please help.

Thanks,

Nick.

When mine wasn't working I thought it simply needed charged. It still didn't work and I complained. Apparently the pressure test is not part of the process, but the leak rest may be.
In the end a little valve needed replaced once I had requested the test be done and the problem then confirmed.
Just a thought  :y

Hmmm....i should then ask to have a leak test around the valves. :y

A/c needs to be pressure tested with nitrogen to find if there is a leak, then tested with dye to find the leak.
Condensors seem to leak at the bottom corners,or near the battery tray, the L/P valve is just a normal.tyre valve core, the H/P valve(port) is 13277003 £4.19 on tc.

If its a slow leak - ie takes weeks before it stops working - pressure/leak tests won't show it. They should put dye in it, and that will reveal the leak when its leaked most of the refrigerent out weeks later.

I have two of them, but neither of them have been used on a car for at least 6 months. I have heard it said that the seals can dry out if they aren't used,so it might be a bit of a gamble tbh. Might be worth asking for opinions before diving in ,but I only want £20 for one,and your close enough to not have to pay the postage, which would be expensive for something so heavy.
