More likely a cam sensor on a 4 pot ;)

Any codes?

I once had a similar mysterious fault on a manual Senator - lights on, radio fails, power steering off, etc. Turned out to be alternator bearings stiffening up when hot. To test, remove auxiliary belt and try turning the alternator pulley by hand.

I don't think cam (or crank) sensors cause stalling on a 2.0.  I would suggest looking/cleaning ICV first.

Hi  guys thanks for your feedback on this issue I brought a new battery 2 mht ago so not that, cleaned and took apart the tiny valuve that was not stuck, I had cam belt changed 3 mht ago trouble seems to have started shortly after that.
also noticed at about 40miles hr seems to feel like its not pulling right, and idle is between 6/8 thou but can drop out , prob need to get codes but the only thing haven't changed is the crank sensor. leads and coil been done , and new cat. was running without no trouble for months lol.
ive spent to much now to get rid  :D had 3 omegas this is the baby being the 2.0 16v and most trouble lol' is crank easy to change ? cant see any pics or things for the 2.0 16v I thanks again all Ree.

if you had all those symptoms on v6 i would say crank sensor-try a breakers-for one-if probs go-bonus-but still would say cam sensor IMO and yes sensors easy on 4 pot its on passenger side of engine block :y and cam sensor up top at front-just behind cam wheels :y

I do not understand how cam or crank sensor failure would cause 'all dash lights on, power steering going', etc. There is a mystery here.

hi again thanks for your posts, yes strange indeed, also when I restart which goes straight away first click engine starts all lights go off except not sure if its seat belt or air bag , it takes about 30secs to go off that's the last light to go out., it norm happ when im slowing down whilst car in motion its fine its under breaking it cuts out , but not all time , if it is the sensor can it go alltogether and leave you stranded ??been hap once to often now ,instead of once in blue moon  :o . like I said needs resolving as I feel its dangerous to drive ,as car nearly hit us from behind after cutting out ,and no steering and breaks minimum  >:( . thanks again oof.

Engine's stalled - thats whats caused all dash lights to come on and no power steering ::)

Ime if a car stalls at tick over, it's the tick over or idle control valve at fault. The dash lights have come on, and the power steering cut out, because the engine has stalled.

There is a guide on cleaning 4pot icv iirc. :)

Does it stall when you have eased or the gas or coming to a stop? Ie the revs drop....

If so as others have said sounds like Idle Control Valve stalling the engine  :y

As above, almost certainly the ICV and breathers.
