Now try Paris in rush hour.... I had to change my horn regularly!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously though I used to cycle across l'Etoile in rush hour!  I had an airhorn attached to my 2-wheeler and that worked a treat!  Oh here comes a tru.....bike?!?!?!?!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

I would rather insert hot needles into my eyeballs than drive in London  :o

In fact, if at all humanly possible I wouldn't go there at all --- unfortunately there are times when it cannot be avoided !!

i guess it helps if you know where you are and where you're going to... any city or town can be a complete nightmare if you're 'lost', but if you have your bearings and know where you need to be in relation to where you are then things aren't so bad. and then of course there's actually having time to deal with all the traffic when you have to be somewhere at a specific time...

I don't mind driving in London, but then I like the place, 'cos it's my home town.  Don't go there very much these days, and I haven't been into the centre for seven or eight years.

I worked on the first computerised traffic light system in London in about 1970.  We managed to achieve a 7% reduction in journey times in the area covered - it lasted about 3 months, and then it was back to the usual gridlock.

Absolutely right... Luckily I know my way reasonably well. I'm actually off to the big smoke tomorrow!! I'll be running the sat nav alongside my personal knowledge to give it another test!!  :y :y

The other thing that helps is being fearless.... Just do what you've got to do as quickly and safely as you can and let the others worry about what's going on!! I have plenty of stories to tell of my times as a delivery driver in London but they will have to wait for another time!! Needless to say I taught one Black Cab driver that suddenly stopping in fron of a Transit with bull bars with no warning is a bad idea!!! (Ant Mr Plod agreed with me after hearing from independent witnesses!!)

I live on the outskirts of London but haven't driven in for years. I used to do it for a living but it gets to you in the end. ::) Don't know how the Lodon cabbies put up with it day after day. :-?

When I need to go into London I find it much quicker and easier to jump on the train which is less than half hour journey to Liverpool Street station. Also works out cheaper than taking the Mig in.

had an identical situation on my way home from work re traffic lights, impatience got the better of me, i drove about 200 years on the wrong side of the road since it was clear, then turned left to go the wrong way up a one way street, because the green light only let one car at a time through

Prior to moving to this backwater ,my job took me into and all over London every two weeks or so. I absolutley loathed driving in there, not because I disliked London but due to having to drive past places of great architectural beauty and historical interest and not being able to stop and admire... :(
Being a Scot I had absolutley no idea where I was half the time and the number of occassions I was threatend by traffic wardens when studying my good old A to Z at the side of the road was incredible.
Then came the congestion charge  :'(
In the end I drove to Hampsead and parked up behind Jack Straws Castle and caught the tube . Only problem was getting back to the dark car park on the edge of the Heath at night one had to run the gauntlet of groups of men of a entirely opposite sexual persuasion to myself... :o :o :o :o
