yaw.n  ::)

What ever, OOF recommend the most cost effective repairs. People can choose to take that advice or ignore it.
i got nothing again's the advice oof give me . i just got to look at the cheaper side of it :y :y

Thats OFF/my point, a cheaper repair may not last as long, we look to give most cost effective long term repair. Cheaper option at first glace, may not be the cheaper option.

Needed them for bits/spares, when you have 4 Omegas to run, spares to hand are always useful. Is that ok with you  ::)

The secret is, IMO, to find the factory supplier, and buy from them. If possible.

Fag supply vx wheels bearings for instance.
Same part from vx, over £100 odd..?
Fag £60 odd last I looked.
Then there's conti tech £35 odd.  oe equivelant quality allegedly( are they Bolleeeeeerx ) last about 3 months and show excess play from new.

This has been mentioned before Wilf. ;)

a certain member seems to say, remind with great regularoty, about using genuine parts only,yet it seems that the phrase
 "practise and preach" and "do as i say not as i do" spring to mind.
 but there are other members who at the time of repair due to funds cannot use genuine parts so use pattern,with no adverse affects to the health,of the veichle.
 yes we know certain parts that are pattern arn't any good,so all we can do is recomend what we\us\oof have found out through years of practise and knowledge,and not continually keep having a shout at those who wish to do it there way. :)

Buying genuine parts doesn't necessarily mean paying genuine prices.

The point being made is that the op went continually against well proven advice on cam cover gaskets, and has now finally fitted the genuine part.

Hopefully he'll now get the performance and reliability to go with it. :y
