a certain member seems to say, remind with great regularoty, about using genuine parts only, yet it seems that the phrase
"practise and preach" and "do as i say not as i do" spring to mind.
but there are other members who at the time of repair due to funds cannot use genuine parts so use pattern, with no adverse affects to the health,of the veichle.
yes we know certain parts that are pattern arn't any good,so all we can do is recomend what we\us\oof have found out through years of practise and knowledge, and not continually keep having a shout at those who wish to do it there way. :)

Only in places which require them, such as cam covers, cam sensors or crank sensors or similar. Which has been proved over the years in OOF, it's for this exact reason for people with limited funds we recommend best way, as often going with cheaper parts, means paying twice & therefore paying more in the long run.

Buying genuine parts doesn't necessarily mean paying genuine prices.

The point being made is that the op went continually against well proven advice on cam cover gaskets, and has now finally fitted the genuine part.

Hopefully he'll now get the performance and reliability to go with it. :y
which i had sent to me by a oof member . like said if not would have gone with pattern parts :y :y

Got plenty of Vx 10/40 semi synth oil here Rolf.

Got a few days off work, and though pretty busy'll try and squeeze you in ... if you've got a pattern oil filter! ;)

You comin' to Newent Jeff?

It's cheap as chips and one of the experts could have a gander at your motor ... possibly ...  ???
