Either new wishbones or re-bush the existing ones and fit a new ball joint ... do-able .. ask Seth as I know he's done it .. but it needs a fair bit of work and a decent press as well.....

I opted for the buy replacements option .. :(

I wouldn't replace one side without the other, TBH, and as it's a real pain to get the bushes in and out a new pair of wishbones will be by far the easiest, and, if you use pattern parts, cheapest, route.

Of course, if it's the ball joints only, you can drill out the rivets and replace using suitable bolts.

If it's the front bushes only, you can cut them out and replace with poly bushes.

.. but I reckon the rear bushes are likely to be shot too.

No mention of rear bush wear and by track record they usually squeak a fair bit if they are shot  :-\

Thanks Kevin , i see what you mean as it would be a darn site easier to replace 2 new wishbones . Sorry i meant ive ordered 2 new TRE's as they look past the sell buy date  :(

By the pin bush i presume the Mot sheet means the bottom ball joint thats fixed to the wishbone  :-\ If so ive just seen a replacement bush that comes with the 3 bolts . Sorry to misunderstand  :-[

If so i dont mind drilling out the old one  :y

Ball joint is NOT a "bush" IMHO .. :(  I would contact the garage and ask for clarification ... pointless changing a ball joint if they mean a front/rear bush is the problem .. :(

Depends what you call a pin bush. Given that ball joints have been on vehicles since veteran days I think they'd call it a ball joint if that were the faulty item.

I would interpret it to mean a bush with a pin through the middle, the pin being the wishbone bolt in this case.

If in doubt, ask the MOT inspector who checked it, though, or jack it up and see where you can find play. IME, if it's bad enough to fail an MOT, it won't be hard to find it.

A bird in one is worth two in the hand and a bird on the other is a spitroast?

I'll get my coat.
