No more Auto Trader Magazine
« on: 29 June 2013, 12:42:23 »

Last ever printing of the AT magazine this month. They are going completely digital - sign of the future ?

Extract from email i got

"Today marks the end of one era and the beginning of a new one. The last ever issue of the Auto Trader magazine has gone on sale and marks the transition of Auto Trader to a completely digital proposition.
This month's issue is a special collector's edition which features a host of bespoke content as well as a pull-out cover with five iconic cars from the last 36 years on it.

Another loss for the printing industry. But would I buy a copy? No.

Bean counters will decide no doubt, but I guess it will be a while yet. Commercial print will be dead way before then though. Consumer packaging seems to be the last hope.

But its the way of things, currently.

Autotrader will probably be forgotten in a few years time.

Same as what happened to Exchange and Mart when they stopped printing, how people do you know that log on to E & M online now?

Presume AT's only income is from advertisers. No log in on the web site.

The mag may have been subsidised by advertisers income, you never know. They may be financially better off, depends how it adds up.

For fear of venturing into Politics clique land....Printing ain't cheap, in no small part due to wages in the uk. But I don't need to tell you that. Its the same in manufacturing generally of course.
