Might be a daft question, I assume the film can only go on the inside?
Anyone put it on the outside?

No -- as far as I am aware it only goes on the inside.

I've tinted a granada and a discovery in the past and if you take time to do it the results can be brilliant. The back window of the granny wasn't easy though and ended up chucking a couple of attempts. I didn't do the front side windows of the granny but I did on the disco. Never got pulled over. However I bought a jag with what I thought were factory tints until I was pulled over.
The windows were checked and the tints were stopping 75% of light rather than allowing 75%. The police and VOSPA told me I would have to have the car towed home as I wasn't allowed to drive it. But one of the VOSPA technicians noticed it was film and I had to remove it before I was allowed to drive home. The police apologised and said that really they were aiming at the boy-racer fraternity. I guess thats why they watch me get in my car at a petrol station before stopping me on the forecourt????

if you look at a piece of auto glass you will see there is a %age number, that is the amount light the windown allows through

On the Omega it states 70%, so any tint going on the front (even if it wasn't illegal) would take it over the 30% threshold
