Regarding the oil, you'll need to get it charged with the correct amount when the refrigerant is filled. Best to go to someone who knows what they are doing to ensure this is done. I believe certain quantities have to be added a certain points in the system.

Thanks Kevin, I'll talk to my mobile AC man who seems quite knowledgeable. :y

Me too. 2.2s air con is totally knackered. Be nice to get it going again.

Any chance of a guide?  :-*
I would imagine that the compressor is easy on a 2.2?

Though, wasn't your leak condesnor? Thats easy enough - rad out, condensor out, slot new in, pop rad back in.

Just one awkward bolt at rear, half-shrouded by engine mount

I guess I may need some new seals with both condenser and compressor being replaced. Any suggestions?

Replace seals with new ones, very difficult from GM go to a lokal, refrigeration engineers that specialist that do trailers(hgv fridges),the condensor one prob be ok small smear of silcon grease on them, its the coupler seals, but again smear o silicone grease may sort it out,and have you bought a new HP port from gm,

The compressor has dowty washers which will need replacing, the condensor uses O rings (which may well be ok).

You cna remove the compressor with the pipes still attached, easier still with the rad out. Takes a bit of wiggling but you can get it out far anough to allow access to the bolt which secures the plate and dowtys to the top of it.

I'll replace both for peace of mind. :y :y :y

Done a compressor on the old 1996 2.5 and that was ok but challenging. looked at 2003 2.6. Looks much harder than the old car. Good luck.

Don't think it is compressor, the rad, around the main join to those feed pipes, it chucked out gas there quicker than my ass after a curry.

Keep meaning to get it all fixed  :-[

From previous posts, am I correct in thinking that I will need the car on stands to access the compressor?
