Genuine Vauxhall Oil, which one to use?
« on: 15 July 2013, 23:03:08 »

Hi,

My Omega is due an Oil and filter change soon. The last owner always used 10w 40 in the oil changes.

Should I continue to use the GM 10W 40 or could I change to the GM 5w 30 Dexos 2 Longlife? Any Good?

Not sure what's the best or correct oil to use, hoping to be pointed in the right direction  ;)

have always been told to use 10/40 in the omega, and the times that I used 5/40 and fully synth it was almost like a mobile oil change !!

Either is fine, but if your sticking to 5k oil changes there's probably not much point using the dexos2 as its a longer life oil. Some here change the oil every 3k !

10w40 semi simf here. As oe btw. :)

It is also very good value on TC. £35.97 +VAT  for 4 cans, and even cheaper in 20L drums at £27.95 +. :y

Only if you want pattern shite. Their idea of Genuine GM does not match anyone elses.

I will never, ever use them again.

The oil in the bottle is genuine enough.

There were a couple of occasions they faithfully promised me genuine, GM packaged and stamped cam cover gaskets, which upon arrival were in clear bags with no packaging, I don't trust them with cam cover gaskets for sure, only go to Andyc for these

Their aux belts are ALWAYS too tight, just a fraction. They fit, at a push, but wouldn't do the tensioner/ancils any good.

They're OK for cambelt kits, and service items, but that's about it really..
