Paris is a bit like London, only it smells more.

Parisians are the most arogant of all the French.

As you can tell, I try to avoid the place, yet I do love France - already booked for next year.

Never actually been to Paris but I cannot believe they are worse than the bretons. Brittany is very nice but the people where awful. Normandy on the other hand was fantastic.

Its fun avoiding the bikers in a hurry who weave in and out of traffic at high speed.  Agree during the rush hour can be like a hugh car park.

For those that don't know, Geant and Intermarche are a bit like our out-of-town Tesco Extra stores, only usually bigger. The larger ones tend to have other 3rd party little shops in the same mall.

There is an excellent hypermarket (Geant) at Boulogne-sur-mer just down the A16 from Calais ... far better and cheaper than anything in Calais itself. Also has an excellent "Flunch" restaurant.

As I don't use the french toll roads we go that way anyhow .. so its just a matter of dropping in "en passant" ..

:)  :)

Must remember that  :y

Last time we went to Paris, was a mixed couple group of us, total rip off, hated the place.

At one point we were sitting at Bar by the River, debating were to eat for the evening, my friend John who speaks some French was very specific when ordered a round of drinks as being slightly diabetic only drinks Pilsner type Beer himself, needless to say He was given what the Waiter wanted to give him, normal Draft Beer with the rest of us. With that John then proceeded to empty the contents of the glass over the pavement, and told the Waiter what He thought of Him (think John was having a bad day).  :-[

A local guy was sitting on his own a few tables away, got up, and started rambling on in French to the Waiter, He then turned round walked towards John and produced a Warrant Card, turns out He was Off Duty Police, we all thinking 'this is not good thoughts', the Policemen explained to John, in very good English, that it is not customary to chuck drinks on the pavement in Paris, but then said  John's French was very good and explained exactly what He wanted and was very clear on this, He then apologised for the Waiters ignorance and insisted that He wanted to pay for the round of drinks himself.

Needless to say we were all a bit gob smacked but after a while accepted the Policeman's kind offer, after a few more minuets with the guy, He told us where and where not to eat, told us to enjoy our evening before walking off with a friendly wave.  :o :o

I was trying to get back to our hotel in Paris,

I could see it in the distance but it was up a one way street the wrong way,

I aske a Geandame (sp) for directions, after a few seconds he stopped the traffic and told me to drive up the one way the wrong way,
he said it was to difficult to drive round,

I love Paris but hate London.

pp why do all the junctions on the perifeque have the signs AFTER the junction?
ppp if you want an afternoons entertainment sit in a cafe outside the Arc De Triumph and watch the traffic. :D
