As another Fifer I'd fancy a trip over , esp for the shopping .. but temptation would be to stay there at the minute !!

Nice city, cheap enough to eat well if you stay off the "tourist" streets - used to be there at least 2x per month on business a few years back.

As for shopping at cite d' europe - its a tourist trap & a rip off - better to go to the local Intermarche on the Calais-Dunkirk road :y

I'm hoping to be in Paris for a couple of days next month, all being well  ::)
Perhaps I should ask for some tips before I go  :y

Paris is a bit like London, only it smells more.

Parisians are the most arogant of all the French.

As you can tell, I try to avoid the place, yet I do love France - already booked for next year.

As said, avoid the toursit traps for evening meals.  There are (were - its been a few years since I was last there) some lovely bistros just off the track for lunchtime snacks. Far nicer, better quality and cheaper than the rip-off toursit area places.

As said by someone above, avoid City Europe like the plague, its way to expensive. Just find any large hypermarket on the edge of any town, as long as its more than 10-15km from Calais.

There is an excellent hypermarket (Geant) at Boulogne-sur-mer just down the A16 from Calais ... far better and cheaper than anything in Calais itself. Also has an excellent "Flunch" restaurant.

As I don't use the french toll roads we go that way anyhow .. so its just a matter of dropping in "en passant" ..

:)  :)

(only 9 days until we leave for France ....  :)  :)  :) )
