Heater Fan
« on: 04 August 2013, 09:17:40 »

The heater fan on my '03 2.2 CDX failed to start yesterday morning, this was a suprise as it had shown no signs of problems, i.e noisiness or intermittent faults.
While I'm working my way through past posts (which may take some time!) can anyone suggest where I should start looking first. P.S. It is not the fuse.
Many thanks.

Has your scuttle drain blocked recently - with some of the heavy downpours, this may have caused water to flood in through fan and speed controller into the cabin (damp passenger carpet?).

If so, its usually the speed controller, aka Hedgehog, that fails.

I've had a hedgehog fail and a blower motor - you can check which it is by putting 12v across the blower terminals - if it spins its the hedgehog gone.

Mine was playing up a while back, I borrowed a fan and hedgehog from a very helpful member to fault diagnose with, turned out to be a poor wiring connection behind the glove box between the two.
