Car Rattling in Drive
« on: 05 August 2013, 15:09:03 »

Hi,

My Omega 2.2 CD 16v Auto appears to have developed a very annoying rattle.

It only appears after I have driven a few miles and only when stationary but with the car in drive, it disappears when car is in neutral.

My initial thought was that it was the exhaust rattling but a visit to Kwikfit resulted in them assuring me the exhaust was fine.

Since then I have forced the rattle at home and it does disappear when pressure is applied to the exhaust suggesting that it is in fact the exhaust rattling against something at certain revs.

However, before I revisit Kwikfit or ANOther exhaust type place does anyone else here have experience of this?

Thanks in advance..

Shaun

Check exhaust heat shields at front - if loose try a large jubilee clip ;)

I would ignore anything kwikshit say  ;)

Check heatsheilds as above, also where the exhaust/cat meet. How close is it to the shield?
