TC Situation?
« on: 06 August 2013, 15:23:38 »

With Drive Vauxhall no longer supporting trade cards this is the second Vauxhall dealer near me that has stopped after Charters in Camberley. There seem to be a lot of Vauxhall dealer stopping taking trade cards at the moment citing GM changing their terms and conditions.

Is GM having the attitude that "they will buy the parts anyway" or if the car is no longer economical to repair, "we can sell them a newer one"?

Does the no trade discount also apply to independent Vauxhall garages, so squeezing them?

I suspect the nearest to me is now going to be Reading which is a 30 mile round trip, so £10 on fuel, wear and tear before I've even bought anything.  :(

Oddly enough I was behind a Drive parts van the other day (Drive Reading, IIRC) which had an enormous 'Trade Club' graphic taking up one entire rear door of the van..

I suspect GM  care little for low volume parts sales to consumers, though, you're right.

Charters in Camberley is now Eden Vauxhall - will that make a difference?

Just spoke to Keith in Service at Eden Camberley and they take TC cards. A lot of the team from Drive Aldershot moved to Eden so on reasonably good and familiar terms. I bought the Insignia Tourer from there as well in Feb this year.

That's excellent, would that include an ABS membership?

I don't have my own TC account as I use a fatty little admins  ::)

But be good to also have access to my own, especially as that dealer could be very close to me soon  :)

I don't know as my TC expired but Drive Vauxhall (where I still have an account) had the number on file and kept giving me discounts. I haven't had much work done on Omega in last year or so.

Have Drive actually stopped taking TC cards?

They're still listed on the TC retailer website.

Yes, it's the same group, but when I asked about service parts for my sister-in-law's Astra the other day, he told me that Bury is no longer accepting the TC. If I wanted to use it, I'd have to traipse over to Burnley!  ??? ???
Fortunately Wigan will still accept it, and they're 2 mins from work  :y :y, but I don't finish before 5:30 very often.  :(

I can only assume that people have taken what AndyC has said as meaning that Drive are no longer taking TC accounts. I think they may have misread his post perhaps.

I can confirm that Drive Vauxhall, Avon St. Bristol still accept TC.

As does Dan Harford, Hill Street, Bristol. (NOT part of a Drive franchise)   :y

Both the above are either excellent or terrible depending who is manning the counter.  :'(
