I like that map.

can you believe we used to own the lovely island of Minorca with its superb deep water harbour ?!

Another Gib issue not being talked about is fuel bunkering. This is refueling big ships just off Gib from moored petrol stations
. The Spanish are not happy about it citing environmental concerns but it is probably doing their docks out of a lot of business. Dockyards/shipbuilding is in the news here a lot as the EU have asked for the massive grants back. Of course they have been spent already.

Google earth showing the fishing zones - none of which seem to cover the disputed Gib areas.

When the Navy arrive you will be able to use this (it is updated every 15 minutes) to keep tabs on the action. The detail on zoom is quite amazing.

Hmmm I dunno Lizzie! I expect the Spanish have more rowing boats than us and they're probably more modern!  Hell, they might even be able to fly aeroplanes off them!!  :-\

I expect they are still pissed about Trafalgar!!  ::)  ;D

Ah, but they and the French did at Trafalgar, and we still soundly beat them! 19-0 to the Royal Navy!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

Well if the Britsh ships had glass bottoms they would be able to view the old spanish navy enroute.

Nothing particularly ancient about what is being sent, would have been nice to throw a type 45 into the mix to.

Wonder if there is anything large black and submerged in the area?

Is that a veiled reference to the latest Spanish state of the art subs? They got the design very wrong (70 tons too heavy due to a decimal point in the wrong place) and thus they have a desire to sink!! http://o.canada.com/2013/06/06/spain-builds-submarine-70-tons-too-heavy/

PS if anyone ever asks what Spain gave the world the answer is apparently subs!
PPS I bet you are suspecting that one of our nuclear subs will be hanging around submerged

Might be a slightly fairer fight this time than last - fleet of 61 warships and 34,000 men against 500 defenders in 1704.

Spain nothing more than a 10 minute problem. 7 minutes to lookup and transmit the codes, 3 minutes later problem solved.  :o :o :o :o

The Spanish Government will have more pressing problems, than Gibraltar, once their banks do a real valuation of their property debts.  ::) ::) ::) ::)

To meet the Basel III cash to loans requirement European banks have got to get rid of €3.2trillion of loans by 2019.  ::)

Posted on Follybook by some Spanish mayor.

So, Parliament is being recalled to debate Syria. Hmmm, maybe it's really to consider invading the Iberian Peninsular  ;D

Is the Joint Operations Station still in operation or was it decommissioned ??? I know there were rumours that the actual rock it hollow to hold munitions and the spying equipment, although the alleged nuclear capable munitions was a myth

If the spanish attacked then we would simply need to throw a load of euro coins on the ground and the stampede from the locals would wipe the lot out.
