The MS609 looks like a new version of the 509, to me.. but no personal experience of that one.

The best thing about these (and almost all 'code readers') is that you can't program any settings (other than clear codes) so there's no risk of turning your car into a paperweight ;)

three things of conern...

1.) theres mention in the reviews to ''stay away - Chinese fake''. hmmm. lots of people happy but only one guy saying this - whats your thoughts
2.) this guy is in Australia.... presume this works exactly the same on uk ones sold by amazon? certainly the handset looks identical
3.) he shows at the end the software for recording.... yet in the reviews people are moaning that it wont upload as they have windows 7.... which is what I have.

anyones thoughts? :)

That's the one I have - I believe it's now been discontinued so whatever you find online will be either new old stock or fake.. and unfortunately I have no idea how you tell the two apart  :-\ Then again, I simply bought mine from an eBay seller who proclaimed "Genuine" so.. ;D

I do chuckle at the "Chinese fake" - it is essentially a clone of any number of more expensive diagnostic devices, but the manufacturer makes no bones about where they're based.. if you go to Autel's website they're quite clearly Chinese ;)

It wouldn't surprise me if the software is tricky to get to work in Windows 7, but then as I say .. I've not tried ;) I keep an old WinXP laptop around for working on the car as I don't care if it gets dropped/oily/wet etc (it does have the advantage that it cost me nothing, admittedly).

As near as I can figure out from their new range, anyway..
