Ok Sorry I just HAVE to say this... :(

I've just spent 3 hours.. yes 3 Hours.... changing the plugs on Sheriff my Ex-Police Omega. :o

Does anyone know the person at Vauxhall who, when the question of "where to place all the cables for the engine" said.. "Across cylinders 2, 4, and 6?

Or.

Does anyone know the person that did not slap him for saying such a thing!!!

I'd just like to say "hello" my own special way!! >:(

For "f" sake.... 3 bloody hours, doing my old V8 plugs, took about 10 mins!!!

Oh, also there are 3, yes 3, different sizes of Torx screws that hold stuff onto the plenumumumnmnmumnumnumnunmunumumunmnmlmymnumnumnu chamber... WHY???

It's a brilliant car, but Vauxhall are tossers of the highest order for making such a simple task take the majority of the day!!

Still, it's done now though, and misfire has gorn.

I guess I'm not the only one that takes a long time when working on on these cars  :P

It could be worse, there are quite a few cars where the engine comes out to do the plugs!  :o

Just as well you didn't get the plugs from Vauxhall or you would have had to add in the travelling time to replace them for the right ones.

After a rant like that for just changing the spark plugs I just hope you never have to deal with that sodding f*&%ing bas***d bolt that fixes the dipstick tube, water pipe and lifting eye to the head.  >:(

Just replaced my spark plugs in 68 minutes - and that included having a neighbour stop me for a chat!

I've found that the key to doing the plugs speedily is to use a flexible socket extension. The only thing you need to take off is the ICV. The cable tray (after undoing the two retaining bolts on the plenum) can be eased back enough to get the extension and plug socket down each well. You need to exercise the usual care when installing the new plugs, i.e. turning the socket extension by hand first to make sure the plug is seated correctly and not cross-threading.

If you have the flexible extension, it makes the job pretty straightforward. Without it, you're looking at hours of torment! ;)

Car started on the first key turn and sounded good so, fingers crossed, it's cured my lumpiness.

I used a flexible socket extension when I did mine and it does make it so much easier. When replacing the plug I use a piece of hose and push the top of the plug into the hose to start them off so there's less chance of cross threading them :y
