Vauxhall Prices
« on: 27 August 2013, 12:26:58 »

Just been in my local vx dealer to get some antifreeze and while I was there I got a price for new plugs and can cover gaskets!

I almost fell over!.....the plugs were reasonable at £23 + vat, but the gaskets were £33 + Vat Per Bank!!.....I don't remember them being that damn expensive the last time I bought some. Is my dealer taking me for a ride or is that right??

Was that just the gasket for the cam cover or all the other bits too? It is around £75 for both banks and all the bits. Thats what AndyC used to charge.

Plugs sound expensive, sounds like full retail price quoted there.

my recent price was £32.50 plus vat and that was with a discount full price was £36.10 plus vat per bank I agree the anti freeze seems to be a resonable price. Perhaps we will have to find an alternative has anybody tried Elring  These are mad money compared to GM

Alternatives can be sourced for most things, MeyleHD is now best choice for droplinks, Eternal for zorsts, and so on. But for cam cover gaskets, always geniune.  :y

Most Elring components are brilliant, especially head gaskets and exhaust manifold gaskets.

Unfortunately, their camcover gaskets aren't made to GM standard.

I did once at someones request fit a pattern gasket made by Victor Reinz, which was soft and well fitting, I made sure  breathers were totally clear and well fitted them, and it lasted well and but that was maybe a co-incidence :)

Know they do a lot of parts for Cosworth engines (gaskets, head bolts etc)
