Omega buffet
« on: 27 August 2013, 13:30:28 »

Went out for a long walk with the family and dog. Took along a packed lunch and I decided to have some warm nibbles when we got back to the car. Sausage rolls, chicken legs and a few pork pies duly wrapped in lots of foil then popped onto the exhaust manifold when we stopped, piping hot when I got back and, after some initial hesitation from them, went down a treat.

I'm sure Hugh fearnley whatsit did something similar but actually cooked it while driving, wonder if I can fit a full English on the manifold  ;)

A friend of mine had one of those camping type square pans, the type that the lid would clip on with latches, bolted to his Transit Exhaust Manifold, He would put things like King Prawns, Garlic, Tomatoes, herbs, oil and a splash of water or full English etc, it would be cooked after an hours journey into London, fantastic and delicious.  ;) ;)

I used to do the same with boil in the bag rations with the AFV432 MK2.  When moving locations we would slide the pack between the exhaust box and the hull on the leg before dinner.  Too dangerous to boil water in the BVs while on the move (when they worked) so this was a fantastic time saver.  The Mk3s are too efficient now and the exhaust box does not get hot enough.

Some bean counter has probably saved the MOD 0.2 pence per mile, without thinking of the consequences :-\
