Stainless exhaust from cat back
« on: 04 September 2013, 17:28:27 »

As title need to replace the exhaust on omega elite 3.0l, anyone fitted a full stainless system if so any links where I can take a peek ?
I've had a quote for just under 400 for custom made but will take around 4 hours to do not after anything that sounds phat just something that will last a little longer than 2 years.

Ask if they do a Y connector, single pipe and two silencers or whether they follow the pattern of the original. You might find that going down to 2 boxes is a bit noisy when cruising. V6s often have a drone at 2 to 2.5K revs which the oe system is designed to tune out. I've stuck with a 3 box system. it costs more but the result is more classy and doesn't drone at all.

Got a SS performance cat back (Y from the Cats) an  a 3.2 Manual thats been remaped, goes well, slightly more noise at tick over and on a run, but nothing that sounds out of place for a V6.

If your having one made from new, just tell them you would like a tad more performance but dont want to sound like a Boy Racer, most will understand where you are coming from.

Long Life are fairly good, various branches around the UK. :y

Well had it done at mj in Walsall >:( not a happy bunny flanges cut off cats 2 pipes to 1 centre box then 1 pipe to backbox, exhaust system has no give in it vibration and resonance through car. Asked for it to follow the original system complete joke trip to vauxhall on monday and price up full system from manifolds back and I hope they are willing to pay to put it back the way it should be.

Get a standard exhaust from ETS or Eternal on Ebay and put some chrome trims on the tailpipes - that's the only bit that's visible.

Trouble is that they've cut the flanges off the cats so I guess the only viable answers is another set of cats,  :-\

They should have cut the flanges off the old system,so it bolted up as per the original system, they obviously don't have a spreader on there pipe bender.

Sadly, that seems to be the norm for stainless exhaust makers. Yet to see one the doesn't cut the flanges off.

GM cats are frakkin expensive, sure they were listed on TC at over £600 plus VAT each. Pattern cats are universally shite.
