Second chimney on the house is giving me grief......and wet interior walls.

With both stacks needing sorting, I'm over £800 down in total....

After uncovering the chimney breast I found a bricked-up fireplace, which is offset because of another fireplace one floor down. I'm guessing that this was original to the house in 1891.

It might be worth making a 'feature ' out of it.

That's probably why it's damp - the chimney needs to breath.

Surely not. The water is coming through the ceiling some eight feet above and running down the chimney.

Yes...... There are a few cracks in the chimney too, and the  'cap' also looks suspect.

'No more nails' 

Often chimneys tend to break their backs, especially if on the gable end of a property. Quite amazing how tall they are when you climb up - or count the bricks from the ground and do the maths.
