Looks like the new tax rate starts March 2009. So if your tax runs out in February presumably you'll pay £205, if it runs out in April its £440.

Mine runs out in January.......So I'm alright Jack..........For 1 year anyway!!!!

It amazes me the short sightedness of the government, I use my car daily and travel approx 2 miles to work and 2 miles back, i have a friend that travels 30 miles each way to and from work and he is in the £35 a year tax bracket, yet he produces more Co2 emmisions than I do on a weekly basis, but i pay £££££££££££££ more in tax !!!!!

Its daylight robbery !!

Pre March 2001 and it's ok, at present !!!!!.
In the pipeline - all petrol or diesel useing equipment made since 1944 will have to be registered, lawn mowers, motor bikes, central heating boilers, cars etc, they will all pay Mr Brown fuel tax based on "each time they start". Well ok but what is next ? The man is an idiot, he has taxed England its industry and people to death.

Ok people come on its not rocket science.

Cars registered BEFORE 1st March 2001 are taxed in 2 catagorys!

Below 1.6 and above 1.6

So 3.0 meggas pay same tax as a 2.0 mondeo.



Cars registered AFTER March 1st 2001 are taxed based on CO2 emmisions.

V6 Omegas are dirty engines so hit the higher brackets.

2.6/3.2 and 2.5's/3.0;s if registered after 1st March 2001, pay £445 tax in 2009 and £455 in 2010.


2.5/3.0 Omegas registered before 1st March 2001, will never pay more than £200 until 2010.

WRONG

They are a very clean engine, the thing is they are designed for good emmisions not to pass a CO2 (which is NOT a pollutant) test.
