Tonsillitis - How to Avoid it ?
« on: 26 May 2008, 19:07:51 »

IS there a Doctor in the House  ;D ;D

SWMBO in agony and just been diagnosed as having the above ( i`m not spelling it again)

Never mind her - any ideas how i can best ensure i avoid it  ;D

I simply CANT be off work at the moment to much happening  :-/

So any old wives tails, educated DIY doctors or experiences of those that have had it would be good.

Oh and i`ll be moving into the spare room for a start till its gone  ::)

Not a lot you can do really, apart from usual hygiene practices --- oh, and the snogging will have to stop!

Don't share drinkies ( backwash is disgusting, to say the least), lots of hand washing.

Best of luck --- look after the missus, and keep her fluids up.

You can't OD on VitC - the Body will take what it wants, and just get rid of the rest...

You may also already have the bug in your system incubating, your missus must of have it before the symptoms became visible. I hope she feels better soon and of course you don't get it at all.  :)

I prescribe several nights on the 'couch', combined with a no-coughing in your presence rule.
`May help prevent you getting it but will seriously lower her opinion of you. ;D

Not entirely true but it doesnt hurt to eat more fresh fruit than normal, stay away from the pill Vit C, does your organs no good.

The best advice really apart from the little contact thing.  If you can get some sanigel that will help if you apply AFTER handwashing (the leftover stuff is great for lighting BBQs too  ;D)

Get well soon mate or rather the missus :y

I may be wrong but, to the best of my knowledge, the virus that causes tonsillitis is airborne. No doubt any quacks out there will correct me if I'm wrong.

Best advice: Sleep in the spare room!  :y

Prevention is better than cure. Even if you feel fine, kip in the spare room and have a large hot toddy before bed, (large whisky, hot water, 1 spoon of sugar). Works for no end of ailments and if it doesn't, you will still have a great nights sleep!
